Brolo is an old land, rich in attractions, in history and traditions. At first it was a seafaring village, land of pirates and marauders, then under the Princes Lancia until the 19th century, it was the seat of nobles, destination of travellers, artists and notables who loved to spend their holidays there, also for it was in close proximity to the Castles of Lipari and Milazzo. The harbour of Brolo became a commercial centre and a meeting-place for the Aragonese and Angevin ships. Everyone was enchanted by the nature of the place, by the variety of the natural beauty, by the limpid and abounding in fish sea, by the typical gastronomy, by the warmth of the people. The tourists discovered Brolo in the sixties, but it is still a quite and pure place, far from the flows of the mass. Brolo offers its visitors not just its natural beauty, the ancient medieval remains, the historic centre resembling a Tunisian Kasbah, but also the modernity of its tourist structures. Hotels and residences, located both near the sea or in the historic centre, restaurants and typical cafés and bars, stores for a refined shopping, daily boats for the Aeolian Islands that stand in front of Brolo, centres for horse-riding and trekking, tennis playing fields and the go-kart track, make this town a well-known Sicilian tourist centre. |
